MOVE COMPUREG POS SOFTWARE AND DATA TO A NEW COMPUTER


Always backup your system prior to attempting any of these processes and tasks.
Moving data can be a complex and time consuming process.
 
You may purchase a support call from us and we will perform this service for you.
 
These instructions are provided for those customers who are
comfortable working with their own computers.

Failure to follow any of these steps EXACTLY may cause the program to fail.
1. DO NOT Uninstall CompuReg from your old computer. If your software is more than 1 year old you may be required to purchase a new license. Contact us first if you are unsure of your license status.

2. Archive your invoices. If you keep a maximum of 13 months of detailed data or even better 3 months or less the upgrade will process quickly. If you do not archive the upgrade to take many hours to complete depending on how many invoices are active.

3. Exit CompuReg completely out to Windows.

4. Browse to your existing CompuReg ROOT folder on the OLD computer
(example: "C:\Program Files\CompuReg 10") and COPY (do not not cut!) the entire contents of that folder and ALL sub-folders on to backup media device of your choice.

5. Download and Install the CURRENT DEMO VERSION of CompuReg on your NEW computer. When installing uncheck "SAMPLE COMPANIES".

6. After the Installer finishes DO NOT start CompuReg on the NEW computer at this time.

7. From your BACKUP MEDIA copy six files USERS.DBF, USERS.MDX, USERPREF.DBF, USERPREF.MDX, CLIENT.DBF, CLIENT.MDX
to the CompuReg root folder of on your NEW computer. (example: "C:\Program Files\CompuReg 10")

8. From your BACKUP MEDIA copy your ENTIRE COMPANY data folder on the NEW computer.
(example: "C:\Program Files\CompuReg 10\LIVEDATA")

9. Start CompuReg and a file rebuild will occur and then the program will exit. The data transfer is now complete.

If after updating if your CompuReg software reverts to Demo Mode and your last purchase was less than 1 year ago go to Help, Request Activation Key. Under these conditions a new activation key will be sent to you by Email at no additional charge.

* Customers quailify for only one free re-activation request per license within the first year of purchase.

Upgrade policy and information:
1. If your existing version is more than 1 year old you will need to purchase a new software license.
2. Contact us by Email to verify your license status prior to installing an upgrade.
3. Customers installing and using upgrades do so at thier own risk as upgrades are provided as a courtesy service only.
4. Updating or Upgrading does not include any free Help Desk Voice Service.
5. Backup your system prior to upgrading during our normal business hours in case you need to contact us.
